Airports primarily consist of an extremely large sealed surface, which rainwater is diverted from. However, the large amount of discharged exhaust, parts rubbed off from tyres, fuel, oil and grease and de-icing agents come together to form a critical composition, harmful to the environment. Other sources of waste water are maintenance hangars and workshops.
In addition, there are the terminal buildings with their catering and sanitary areas.
If the buildings allow it, attempts ought to be made to pre-treat the waste water accumulated locally. This particularly applies in the case of substances such as kerosene and other light liquids. These need to be separated with a gravity separator using coalescence, if necessary.
An appropriate process or combination of processes can only be established by carrying out a more detailed examination. Therefore, proaqua will not recommend a specific product at this point, but a solution specifically for the application in question.
